The University Interscholastic League was created by The University of Texas at Austin to provide leadership and guidance to public school debate and athletic teachers. Since 1910 the UIL has grown into the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world. The UIL continues to operate as part of the University of Texas, under the auspices of the Deputy to the President for Governmental Affairs and Initiatives.

The UIL exists to provide educational extracurricular academic, athletic, and music contests. The initials UIL have come to represent quality educational competition administered by school people on an equitable basis.

 

CRE PTO is proud to host the UIL A+ Academics competition again this year as a part of our Student Enrichment Program, designed to support academic excellence and challenge students in fun, engaging ways.

 

We’re excited to offer few academic events for the 2026–2027 school year at Canyon Ranch Elementary!

🗓️ Registration Deadline: Monday, August 24, 2026

📘 Practice & Coaching Details:

  • Bi-weekly coaching sessions begin after registration closes
  • Sessions may be in person or via Zoom
  • Students will use UIL-recommended materials to prepare available on UIL A+ Academics
  • Regular attendance is required for team success
  • Tryouts in mid-October – only 3 students per grade will be selected for competition. 

Also, we are looking for enthusiastic parent volunteers to step up as coaches for our kids' team practice sessions to make it a success! You do not need to have prior coaching experience.

 

Without a parent volunteer to coach, the league will drop our team, and the kids will miss out on the event.
